Remember That Name

Standing on his grandfather's gravestone at Evergreen Cemetery, Rev. Stokes reflects that graves help us remember, while crucifixion was designed to erase a name. In John's Passion the religious leaders, Pilate and Peter each try to destroy, smear or deny the name of Jesus. Yet the cry 'It is finished' reveals God at work in this death, bearing our sin and pain, and calls sinners to cling to the crucified King.
